Cutting the hay meadow

Mowing the hay field
I was sad to see the hay meadow cut today. The field is just in front of our current pitch overlooking Soutergate and the Duddon Channel on the Furness Peninsula.

The hay field looked beautiful and walking the path alongside it down to the estuary was a great pleasure. There were buttercups, red and white clover, different grasses and many other small plants I hadn’t yet identified; even a few bees.

The tractor made short work of it: completely mown in under 15 minutes. Till next year then.
